Beneath a Prairie Moon
I have probably read all of Kim Vogel Sawyer's books, and she has earned her spot in my top five favorite historical romance authors. "Beneath a Prairie Moon" is Sawyer's most recent book, set to be released in March 2018, and it most defiitely did not disappoint.
"Beneath a Prairie Moon" is set in Kansas in the fall of 1888. It follows a young woman, Abigail Grant, in her failed quest at being a mail order bride in her attempt to escape her past in Massachusettes. She heads to Kansas with her employer, after a seventh failed potential marriage match, to be an etiquette tutor to expectant grooms that have sent East for a mail order bride. It's a book about overcoming ones past, and not letting who your parents were define you. It's a book about finding love when you feel unloveable.
The book is told from four characters point of views, and I am always partial to book like that, because you can pack way more detail into a book. The only downfall I had was that Abigail's attitude at the beginning of the book really made her unlikeable and at first I was dissapointed, but then as the book goes on it's really a huge part in developing our characters. So sadly the attitude could not be changed, but as long as you can make it through Abigail's annoying attitude, that will make your heart go out to the main male character, you will unearth a very sweet book, with a wonderful meaning. You may even end up truly liking Abigail at one point.
Also, their was a wonderful bit in the book that talked about "sowing tears" that ties in with the Bible verse Psalms 126:5 that says, "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." This was a very charming part of the book that may have been one of my favorite parts.
"Beneath a Prairie Moon" is one of those books that grows on you while you read it, so I would recommend it, especially if you love any other of Kim Vogel Sawyer's books.
*I received this book from "Blogging for Books" for this review.*
